Houston Community Initiatives

Houston Community Initiatives are designed to bring the best of Rice "beyond the hedges" and vice-versa. We foster sharing between established civic, governmental, and cultural leaders with future leaders, as well as open up a wealth of resources to scholars whose work contributes to what we know about the Houston area. Some of our community initiatives are:

·Leadership Lecture Series

·Scholars-in-Residence Program

·High School Outreach

·Community Collaborations

Rice Community Initiatives

Rice Community Initiatives promote innovation in academic engagement and support those at the cutting edge of research and teaching at Rice University and in higher education generally. These Initiatives work to ensure Rice taps into the resources offered by the greater-Houston area:

·African American Religious Studies Forum

·Course Development Grant

·Distinguished Visiting Lecturer

·Rice, Houston and Hip Hop

·Society of Race, Ethnicity and Religion

·Archival Collections
