Interdisciplinary Forum About The Schlorship of Race

Race Scholars at Rice will host an interdisciplinary forum entitled - What Does It Mean To Study Race and Inequality in the 21st Century? At this event, two professors from the Social Sciences and two from the Humanities will be speaking about the scholarship of race.

CORRUL's associate director Jenifer L. Brater will co-present a "work-in-progress" paper entitled "From the Blood of Race to the Chromosomes of Gender: The Legal Criteria of Race and Sex in Cases of 'Fraud.'" This paper discusses the divergence between the current constructions of race and gender through the lens of shifting legal criteria for racial identity and gender identity.
